The partnership between two of Australia's timeless singer-songwriters, Fanning Dempsey National Park will release their debut album 'The Deluge' this winter ahead of a national run of live shows.

Households names thanks to their own bands – Powderfinger and Something For Kate respectively – Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey are giants of the Australian musical landscape who are exploring new sonic textures as Fanning Dempsey National Park.

After recruiting drummer Michael Urbano and bassist Craig McFarland from their 'Celebrating David Bowie' adventure in 2020 alongside synth player Adam McDougall, who completed the band's line-up when the musicians convened at 2200 Studios in San Francisco last year, Fanning Dempsey National Park sees the two celebrated songwriters lean into electronic washes, synth arpeggiators and motorik rhythms.

"We've been telling you all how excited we are for you to hear our new album 'The Deluge', but that doesn't compare to the fever we have to announce our national tour," Fanning and Dempsey says, who will headline concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.

"It's coming in October/ November to a venue near you. Get onboard, bring your raincoat, and prepare for a lot of fun."

The first sample of 'The Deluge' is the single 'Disconnect'. "We are totally overwhelmed by the response to our new song. It's such a relief to have it out there and into people's ears after secretly chipping away at it for a couple of years," the duo posted.

"We knew, deep down that you were all ready for a HOT SAX renaissance (shout out to @rondziubla). Thank you one and all that have taken the time to tune in, especially to all of our team that do all of the hard stuff behind the scenes."

'The Deluge', which was recorded with Grammy-winning producer Craig Silvey (Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, The National, Florence and The Machine), will be released 2 August; pre-order it.

Tickets on sale from 12pm (local time) on 4 June.
