ARIA Award-winning chanteuse Montaigne will headline the inaugural 'Express Yourself – Queer Discovery' showcase in Sydney this November.
'Express Yourself' is a joint initiative between Mardi Gras and APRA AMCOS, featuring three music showcases – each starring emerging LGBTQIA+ artists performing alongside an established headliner, to industry heavyweights and the general public.
Indie pop king Brendan Maclean will play host for the first night, where Montaigne and two emerging queer artists will treat audiences to a live extravaganza.
"I’m super excited to be part of the Mardi Gras Express Yourself launch!" Montaigne says. "I haven’t performed in so long and it will be nice to perform in front of the community that I so proudly belong to."
This inaugural event is taking place as part of Great Southern Nights, featuring 1,000 COVID-safe gigs across Sydney and regional NSW.
Mardi Gras and APRA AMCOS are still accepting applications for emerging artists! Are you a budding Troye Sivan? Can you sing with quiet sincerity like Courtney Barnett, or spit rhymes like Miss Blanks?
You can apply for the showcase here until 27 October.
The first 'Express Yourself – Queer Discovery' is on at The Beresford Upstairs on 28 November.
