Emily Wurramara Australia 2025 Tour

Emily Wurramara

Indigenous artist-activist-author, Emily Wurramara has added a number of encore shows to her recent Australian album tour.

The proud Warnindhilyagwa woman hailing from Groote Eylandt and Milyakburra/Bickerton Island, Emily made history when she became the first Indigenous woman to win the Best Adult Contemporary Album at the 2024 ARIA Awards for her album 'NARA' (the ARIA Awards have been staged annually since 1987).

The new run of shows across February-March includes festival dates at Treaty Day Out, WOMADelaide, Perth Festival and Riverboats Music Festival as well as headline gigs in Dharawal Country (Wollongong), Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) and Naarm (Melbourne) – the acclaimed artist's first Naarm headline show in nine years.

Of her historic win, which follows a full-circle moment at this year's ARIA Awards where Emily presented Best Blues & Roots Album – the award her 2018 debut album 'Milyakburra' was previously nominated for – Wurramara says: "I [want] to say how honoured I am to be the first Indigenous woman to win the Best Adult Contemporary Album Award ever in ARIA history.

"I'd just like to acknowledge all the Elders and all the mob who came here in order for me to be here. 'NARA' is a big album for me, and I am so so honoured to be receiving this nod and recognition – big love, and thanks everyone for the support."

The music video for 'Lordy Lordy feat. Tasman Keith' won the Film Clip Of The Year at the 2024 J Awards.

Steeped in love for community, 'NARA' was co-produced by Wurramara and James Mangohig (A.B. Original, Daniel Johns), and recorded at Boat Ramp Studios on Larrakia Country.

It was longlisted for the Australian Music Prize and has attracted high praise from musicians, actors, comedians and media figures alike; from The Wiggles to Nicky Winmar, Barkaa to Ben Lee, Fanny Lumsden, Sean Millis and many more.

All tickets are on sale.
