'Game of Thrones' and Ed Sheeran fans, we have big news for you if you didn't already know.

An announcement was made by GoT season show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss that everyone's fave, ginger sweetheart, Ed Sheeran, will be making a cameo appearance during S7 of GoT. Squeal-licious.

Time to put your acting skills to the test Ed! The news was revealed on Sunday night (US time) at the panel during South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.

The spoiler alert was revealed after Maisie Williams (Arya) had told assembled media she was a huge fan and that [the show] had been trying to get him to appear as a surprise for her ever since. “This year we finally did it,” Benioff told the crowd assembled at SXSW.

Ed filmed his role last year, which means we should see his ginger locks at some point during S7. 'Game of Thrones' has featured a number of different musicians in the past including Mastodon, Sigur Ros, Will Champion from Coldplay and Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol.

The show's creators also revealed that the upcoming S8 will have only have six episodes, a little disappointing if this intends on being the final season for all eternity.

As for S7, which will be screening from 17 July on Foxtel, Benioff and Weiss didn't let slip any spoiler alerts apart from announcing that Tyrion Lannister will have the best line of dialogue... what a surprise... not!
