Motivation is a wonderful tool. Just ask the lads of Dune Rats.
The Brisbane rockers were promised by craft brewers Young Henrys that if the Dunies newest album, 'The Kids Will Know It's Bullshit', went #1 on the ARIA charts, they could create their own beer.
Praise Homer 'cause the Dunies did their job scoring a #1 album and in the process bringing forth to the light Dunies Lager. "We hung out with our mates Young Henrys one arvo,” the Dunies declare, “and it came up that we were gunning for number one when our new album dropped.
“The fellas said if you get the top spot we'll brew you your own beer. This is that beer.”
The lads will be decapping a slew of the brews this weekend at a Sydney launch party (limited to 200 peeps; registration via Eventbrite) as well as selling Dunies Lager at shows when the lads tour nationally next month. “It's awesome when friends of friends come into the fold, become new friends, drink beers together... and then decide to make a beer together,” Young Henrys founder Oscar McMahon says.
With labels designed by the artist behind Dune Rats’ latest album cover, Lee McConnell, Dunies Lager is a slightly hazy, summer smasher of a beer with a full blown dank hop nose and flavour, courtesy of some late addition hop hash (sorry, no THC as one might imagine). “We set out to make the coldest beer in the world,” the Dunies say.
“So with Young Henrys scientists, we have developed the world's coldest beer. Even when it's warm, it's cold! When it's a day for it, crack open an ice cold Dunies Lager. It's a can so cold it will cool ya house.”
