Dune Rats Ask For Your Help To Save Brisbane's Coorparoo Bowls Club

Dune Rats are supporting the campaign to save Coorparoo Bowls Club from a proposed development.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

With a proposed development (80-unit aged-care complex) threatening the future of Coorparoo Bowls Club in Brisbane, a long-time host of live music events, a fundraiser is happening this weekend.

Dune Rats drummer B.C. Michaels believes that venues such as the Coorparoo Bowls Club are the future of music in Brisbane and a necessary space for future generations.

"It’s important to keep the Coorparoo Bowls Club as an actual community centre for the public to enjoy amongst all of these shit high rises that are popping up everywhere.

"There’s a complete oversupply of this bullshit already and Coorparoo is quickly becoming a big slab of concrete. Come down on Sunday, drink some beers, have some bowls and have some fun; the way it should be."

With live performances from surf-punk band Concrete Surfers as well as long-standing country bluegrass trio The Gailee Three as well as a donation sausage sizzle, if you want to support the local music community, this Sunday 19 November is the moment to take action.

Save Coorparoo Bowls Club takes place from 2pm Sunday 19 November.
