It's been a long minute, but Australian Dream Theater fans can rejoice with the progressive metal titans to return as part of their 40th anniversary world tour.
The iconic line-up of James LaBrie, John Myung, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy (who rejoined the band in 2023) and Jordan Rudess will headline concerts in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane next February – their first Australian dates with this line-up in 15 years.
"The excitement we have felt from the fans since the first leg of this tour was announced has been overwhelming," declares the band, who recently completed the European leg of the tour.
"Now we get to bring the show to our fans all across the world, and play a bunch of cities that we haven't been together in for more than a decade.
"We can't wait to continue this historic celebration of 40 years together with everyone in Asia and Australia next year. We still have plenty of more exciting Dream Theater news to share in the coming weeks."
With 16 studio albums in their arsenal including their most recent, 2025's 'Parasomnia' that dropped in February, the band originally formed in Boston while Petrucci, Myung and Portnoy (all New York natives) studied at Berklee College of Music. They'd later quit school to focus on the band.
Their catalogue of hits includes 'Pull Me Under', 'Panic Attack', 'Another Day', 'The Spirit Carries On', 'As I Am' and 'Metropolis - Part 1'.
Tickets on sale from 10am (local time) on 10 September.
