Dig Music, the digital radio station taken over by triple j last year, is about to re-launch as Double J.
Clearly aimed at the over-30s crowd, Double J will be launched by former triple j presenter and Spicks And Specks team captain Myf Warhurst on Wednesday April 30. The station will make extensive use of triple j's interview and sound archives.
"We have wanted to build a station like this for a number of years and now, with your help, we are really proud to deliver Double J," said triple j manager Chris Scaddan. "While it won't be a throwback to the music of the original Double J, it will be a station that takes the best elements of triple j's past — a name, a presenter and the incredible archives, thrown headlong into the future with the best new sounds around. It means even more airplay for Australian music and more of the values and ethos that make triple j so celebrated around the world."
Double J will kick off at midday Wednesday April 30 with a live broadcast simulcast across triple j and Double J, during which Myf Warhust will reveal the full Double J programs, presenters and innovative music content. You'll be able to tune into the station on your mobile via the ABC Radio App, online, or on your digital radio or TV.
