Scenestr
Don McLean

Mr American Pie, Don McLean returns to Australia this October.

Still touring, still performing and still drawing audiences who have lived with these songs for decades, this run of concerts by the 'American Troubadour' – Brisbane, Gold Coast, Western Sydney, Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide as well as Savannah In The Round (FNQ) – celebrate the 55th anniversary of 'American Pie'.

At 81, McLean remains a commanding presence onstage, delivering the songs exactly as audiences want to hear them with warmth, clarity and the unmistakable voice that has carried them across five decades.

Alongside 'American Pie', audiences will be treated to McLean's other hits including 'Vincent', 'Castles In The Air', 'And I Love You So', 'Empty Chairs' and 'Crying' (Roy Orbison cover).

Don not only performs the songs, but also reflects on their origins and the path that took them around the world, sharing stories and memories that bring an added intimacy to the live experience.

For many, this tour will be a chance to reconnect with music that has soundtracked entire lifetimes. For others, it may be the first and only opportunity to witness one of songwriting's most influential figures in person.

Few songs occupy the space 'American Pie' does in popular culture. Released in 1971, it remains one of the most recognised and discussed compositions of the modern era, a song that continues to resonate across generations and musical styles.

Yet a Don McLean performance has always been about more than a single hit. His catalogue stands as one of the most enduring bodies of work in contemporary songwriting. Reflective, melodic and instantly recognisable.

Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 31 March.
