American creative Joe Keery aka Djo has added a standalone Sydney headline concert to his Laneway dates in Australia next month.
Best known for portraying Steve Harrington in 'Stranger Things', the psychedelic indie rocker who has released two studio albums will headline Enmore Theatre on 12 February. Given the Sydney Laneway (as well as Melbourne and Brisbane events) has sold out, tickets won't last long.Originally a member of Chicago psychedelic rock band Post Animal (until 2019), Djo was one of the internet's best kept secrets, the slow burn of his 2019 debut album 'Twenty Twenty' (featuring 'Chateau (Feel Alright)', 'Roddy', 'Personal Lies' and 'Mortal Projections') making way for 2022's 'Decide' heralding a synthpop, synthwave style highlighted by the sublime 'End Of Beginning' that gained virality last year on social media.
Joe has teased new music this week, posting a clip of eerie, gothic synthpop melded to cruisy guitar indie pop featuring a slow zoom into a close-up of his face. Oh, the intrigue!
Psychedelic rockers The Lazy Eyes and Velvet Trip will both support Djo at the Sydney concert. "What's up?! We are supporting the amazing Djo at Enmore Theatre straight out the gates. Really excited about this show," posted Velvet Trip.
After the success of 'Stranger Things', Joe has starred in the fifth season of 'Fargo' while playing the lead in Keir O'Donnell's 2024 romantic heist film 'Marmalade'. He also portrayed Stephen Malkmus in the 2024 documentary/ fiction hybrid film 'Pavements'.
Tickets to the Sydney concert on sale from 11am (local time) on 17 January.
