Two of the most iconic hip hop producers of all time will help Illusive and Frontier Touring launch a new concert concept.
Collusion, a new event series revolving around collaborative artist performances, will launch in May with hip hop legends DJ Premier and Pete Rock. They'll be playing massive co-op DJ sets across the country, offering Aussie punters an extremely rare live experience.
DJ Premier, possibly the greatest hip hop producer in history, established himself as the face of the New York sound in the '90s as half of GangStarr and through his work as a producer for Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Big L, Mos Def, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, KRS-One, D'Angelo and Big Daddy Kane.
Of course, you could also make a case for Pete Rock as the genre's greatest producer. Rising to prominence as one half of seminal New York duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth in the early '90s, Pete went on to create beats for Rakim, Nas, M.O.P., Run DMC, Raekwon, Big L, Heavy D & The Boyz, Ghostface Killah, Das EFX and Boot Camp Clik. He's also been cited as a major inspiration by Kanye West and the late J Dilla.
You will not see a more formidable duo on-stage than Premier and Pete Rock. Ever. Not only are they in a league of their own as producers, but they're also considered two of the best DJs in the game.
