Tell all the boys in town, Divinyls founding member, guitarist and co-songwriter Mark McEntee returns in 2019 with a talented new line-up for a national tour to honour the legacy he created with the late, great Chrissy Amphlett.
Divinyls formed in 1980 and the combination of Chrissy's powerhouse vocals and Mark's extensive guitar vocabulary made for an uncompromising brand of rock & roll that saw the duo attain massive international success in the '80s and '90s.
Their catalogue of hits includes 'Boys In Town', 'Only Lonely', Sleeping Beauty' and the international hit 'I Touch Myself', which was banned in some parts of the world including Australia.
A tough, brash and commanding vocalist, Chrissy became an icon for female empowerment and though she passed away in 2013, she remains a guiding figure for women in the music industry.
Mark has created his own legacy as a world-class songwriter, having co-wrote 'I Touch Myself' with Billy Steinberg ('Like A Virgin', 'True Colors', 'Eternal Flame'), had his song, 'Science Fiction' included in APRA’s ‘75th Anniversary Best 30 Australian Songs Of All Time’ collection and penned The Pretenders 1999 hit 'Human On The Inside' for Chrissie Hynde. The Divinyls are inductees in the ARIA and Victorian Music halls of fame as proof that the songs will live on forever.
Next March, Mark leads a major national Divinyls tour to celebrate the band's music and the memory of Chrissy. Joining him will be Baltimore-bred, LA-based singer/songwriter Lauren Ruth Ward, original Blondie guitarist and Divinyls (1987-88) alumni Frank Infante accompanied a cracking new Australian rhythm section featuring J Cortez and Malcolm Clarke (The Sleepy Jackson) to bring their hit tunes back to stages all over the world.
