There is nobody named Dave in the band Dave. Now that we've got that over and done with, it's down to business.
Perth outfit Dave, whose tunes have been described as British post-punk pop/ rock, are gaining considerable momentum in the local live scene as well as the national music scene. Their forthcoming single 'Red Eye' is currently topping the Triple J Unearthed pop-chart. The single — a pop song bursting with well-placed hooks — was produced by Mark McEntee of The Divinyls fame.
The band was formed by the amalgamation of four graduating high school boys, who proceeded to spend their early years locked in garages writing and doggedly rehearsing in Perth. Now they're ready to bring their music to the masses.
Dave list R.E.M., Blur and Weezer as their influences, but think they sound more like The Cure. The handsome young quartet dream of busting out of the constraints of Perth and spreading their music nationwide. They look to be achieving this, so we suggest you snatch up any local tickets before they're outta there.
To celebrate the release of 'Red Eye, Dave will be giving the single away for free through their Soundcloud for a limited time. Head to http://soundcloud.com/thebanddave for your free copy.
