Techno pioneer Derrick May has expanded on his smalltown show by announcing a comprehensive Australian tour.
Credited with shaping and steering house music's future since the release of Detroit techno landmark 'Nude Photo' in 1987 — and with recording one of the genre's greatest ever tracks, 'Strings Of Life', in 1988 — May is about as legendary as they come in the world of electronic music.
His production and solo recording exploits have slowed over the past decade, but May has nonetheless been performing around the globe for over two decades. The Hi-Tek Soul deity also honed his label, Transmat, into one of the most respected in the field.
May will play the following shows around Australia and New Zealand:
Fri Apr 19 — Bar Soma (Brisbane)
Sat Apr 20 — Goldfish (Sydney)
Wed Apr 24 — The Likes Of You (Perth)
Thu Apr 25 — smalltown (Melbourne)
Fri Apr 26 — Electric Circus (Adelaide)
Sat Apr 27 — Sandwiches (Wellington)
