Like a cork in the ocean, Dennis Cometti bob back to the surface returning to the stage in centimetre perfect form with the crackin' solid punk rumbler 'Bloke On The Run'.
The Perth band, named after Australia's most famous (and best by a country mile) sports caller, are gearing up for a national run of dates next month after beginning the year breaking their international cherry tagging along with The Chats.A song tracing the history of one of Western Australia's best known bushrangers, Moondyne Joe, 'Bloke On The Run' might just be the taste of a new Dennis Cometti album the lads are working towards releasing in 2023.
"When Joseph Bolitho Johns was rotting away in the hull of a dingy ship en route to Fremantle's convict establishment in early 1853," elaborates guitarist/ vocalist Alex Patching, "the idea that a local trio of bozos would dedicate two and half minutes of AC/DC worship to his name probably never crossed his mind.
"In fact, Johns passed away a long time before AC/DC ever played their first note (73 years and 3 months to be roughly exact); even longer before Dennis Cometti laid down 'Bloke On The Run' to tape in a shed in WA's south west in the summer of 2021.
"Moondyne Joe may be an obscure character outside of Western Australia, but Dennis Cometti believe that our state's greatest escape artist deserves a proper look in. Ned Kelly? Never heard of him."
Dennis Cometti will themselves be blokes on the run around Australia in January with shows planned in Fremantle, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne (x2).
"Making the trek out east in January – cutle cosy hometown shows as well as our first ever gigs in Melbin and Syderny. Catch you there!"
