Australia's newest one-day indie music festival, Daydream will land in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in April, and they're bringing indie royalty with Modest Mouse to headline.
With 2023 marking the American band's 30th anniversary, Modest Mouse return to Australia for the first time since 2016; the news also arrives only a month since their drummer, Jeremiah Green, died from oral cancer.Modest Mouse will play all their hits including 'Float On', 'Dashboard' and 'Lampshades On Fire' as well as material from their 2021 and most recent album 'The Golden Casket' – their first record in six years.
Another revered indie act is headed to Daydream with British underground act Slowdive bringing their 'pure sonic bliss' from a discography that includes 'When The Sun Hits', 'Sugar For The Pill' and 'Alison'. After breaking up in the mid '90s and reforming in 2014, Slowdive released their first album in 22 years with their self-titled record in 2017.
The third international arrival at Daydream will be Brooklyn's pop-haze band Beach Fossils, who have released four studio albums since forming in 2009. Fans can expect to hear 'Down The Line' and 'Sleep Apnea'.
Rounding out the bill are noise punks Tropical F... Storm, Cleveland, Ohio, rockers Cloud Nothings and the '60s surf-rock sounds of Majak Door (except in Brisbane).
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 3 February.
