Davey Suicide Release Tell-All Video About Their Feud With Standby Records

'Passionate about true crime docos, the Swannies, golf and sleep, I’ve been writing about music for 20-plus years. What I’ve learnt? There’s two types of music – good and bad.’

A cautionary tale from US goth rockers Davey Suicide and the sometimes seedy underside of the music industry.

The band's frontman has revealed via a Facebook video the alleged fraudulent behaviour of their record label (Standby Records) and CEO, Neil Sheehan, during the past five years. "Hey guys! I normally keep it pretty light, but today," Davey Suicide says, "I have to break the silence about this disgusting situation with Standby Records that's been going on for years now."

It's a heavy story told by Davey where he decries: "I lost five years of my life."

With a scheduled 2 August court date to hear the case pushed back to February next year, there appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel for Davey Suicide.

Other bands have since voiced their support for Davey Suicide, sharing similar stories about their experiences with Standby Records. It's an unfortunate reminder of the types of personalities who can prey on musicians.
