Darkworld Festival: Celebrate The Arts & Creative Expression

Boss Moxi lead the music line-up at 2021 Darkworld Festival (in Brisbane).
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.
Update - 19 January, 2021: This event has been rescheduled for Saturday 6 March at The Triffid (Brisbane).

Set to feature 4 theatrical acts, 13 bands, 6 visual artists and 3 projection artists, the inaugural Darkworld Festival (landing in Brisbane next month) offers punters the chance to celebrate indie artists, bringing the local arts community together for a day of revelry.

Originally planned for July before 2020 happened, Darkworld Festival is a collaboration project between creative misfits Boss Moxi, award-winning dance collective Phluxus2, much-loved venue The Triffid and local filmhouse, Method To My Madness.

"We want to erase the blurred lines between these individual industries that often operate, and are mostly considered as separate," the DW2021 team says.

"Music. Art. Theatre. Film. Lighting. Projections. Dance. Photography. We believe that creative expression lives at the core of all artistic practice and we want to promote these origins, the thing that all forms share.

"We plan to present 'art' in a momentary, liveable space of its many sensory forms."

With Darkworld Festival influenced by Dark Mofo, Boss Moxi will headline the music line-up alongside Brisbane rockers Young Lions, coming out of their hibernation after lead singer Zach Britt was caught in Melbourne earlier this year.

Other highlights of the music line-up include Great Sage, Feels Club, Squidgenini and Elko Fields.

A fully immersive arts experience, there'll also be illuminated art works by local tech and light auteurs, abstract and detailed art plus photography of local artists.

The event's capacity is strictly limited, with tickets now available.

Darkword Festival takes place at The Triffid (Brisbane) on 6 March (11am-2am).
