Dance Gavin Dance 2023 Australia Tour

Dance Gavin Dance tour Australia November 2023.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

They may have a single called 'Feels Bad Man', but the feelings are better than good with post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance returning to Australia in 2023.

The Sacramento natives will make their way back to our shores this November, bringing along a slew of new tunes from their tenth album, last year's 'Jackpot Juicer'.

'Jackpot Juicer' is the band's longest album to date, running at over an hour in length. However, the long runtime hasn't scared away fans – 'Jackpot Juicer' is the band's highest-charting album, hitting the top position on the US Rock and Alternative charts and is also their first to crack the Billboard Top 10.

The tour will mark the band's first gigs in Australia since their 2019 shows as part of the second ever Good Things Festival.

While their GT sets clashed with Bryon Bay rockers Skegss and Brisbane's pop queens The Veronicas, Dance Gavin Dance's return gives Aussie post-hardcore fans a chance to see what they missed when they clawed their way through the wall of death that emerged during the Australian national anthem, 'Untouched' by The Veronicas.

It's hard to say who will be in the band’s line-up by the time November comes. The band have had a revolving door of members since forming in 2005, with the only constants being lead guitarist Will Swan and drummer Matt Mingus.

The album marks the recording debut of guitarist Andrew Wells, who was promoted to an official member after joining as a touring member in 2015. Sadly, the album also marks the final recordings from bassist Tim Feerick, who died April 2022.

Leading the band will be longtime vocalists Jon Mess and Tilian Pearson. Last year, Tilian stepped away from the band after sexual assault allegations emerged, which he denies committing.

During his leave of absence, Tilian's touring duties were fulfilled by the band's former vocalist Kurt Travis, who originally joined the band back in 2007 to replace controversial founding vocalist Jonny Craig. In November 2022, they welcomed Tilian back and he has been touring with the band since.

Joining the band on all dates of their 2023 Australian tour are Texan rockers Nothing More. This will be the band's first visit to Australia since their shows at Soundwave all the way back in 2015.

The band have since gone from strength-to-strength, receiving three Grammy nominations for their 2017 album, 'The Stories We Tell Ourselves', and last year released their sixth album, 'Spirits'.
