It's been a killer year for singer-songwriter Dan Sultan with a new album, a national tour and now the announcement that he'll be performing as part of WOMADelaide in 2018.

Dan released his latest album, 'Killer,' back in July, which he followed up with a national tour supported by William Creighton in September.

“We had a really good time on the road and people know the songs, which is good and what you want,” Dan says.

“[WOMADelaide] has always been a very high-end, quality line-up, so as a punter I'm going to have a really good time.”

“You just don't know how these things are going to go. I really liked the album before we released it. I was very happy and very proud of it and we got great reviews and great charts. So it's been very good and very positive.”

His good year got even better when Dan was announced on the line-up for the 2018 instalment of WOMADelaide Festival.

Dan joins an all-star, global cast of artists including Anoushka Shankar (daughter of Ravi and half-sister of Norah Jones), The Avalanches and Havana Meets Kingston.

“I haven't looked too far into who else is playing but it's always been a very high-end, quality line-up, so as a punter I'm going to have a really good time,” Dan says.

“I'm not too sure what we're doing yet but we're really excited and pretty proud to be announced on the bill. I've played that festival a couple of times.

"I got up with my dear friend AB Original earlier in the year, and I've also been to WOMAD in the UK as well and it's always a good set-up.”

Although Dan is unsure at this point exactly what his WOMADelaide performance will entail, audiences can be assured of a high-calibre performance from a prominent Australian singer-songwriter. “I try to make every show special,” Dan says.

“I think that's a responsibility of the performer. People are there to have a good time and you've got a job to do, so we have to hold up our end of the bargain and put on a good show and try to make everything special.

“I haven't thought about anything in particular for this festival, but we'll have a really great time. We're all very close and getting on-stage together is always an honour, so that's going to be pretty special.

"I don't think there will be any gimmicky stuff, which isn't a bad thing. I'm looking forward to getting there and having a big show.”

Dan Sultan performs at WOMADelaide 2018 (Adelaide), which takes place 9-12 March.
