CW Stoneking has returned to Australia for a short tour on home soil after a massive run of shows across the UK and Europe.

If you missed him at Splendour In The Grass, rest assured, he'll be playing a short run of shows before temporarily relocating to the US.

CW is excited to perform live with Vika and Linda Bull who will also be joining him on the tour. They made an appearance, as well as Paul Kelly's daughters, Memphis and Madeline, on his latest album ‘Gon’ Boogaloo’. “I haven’t really done a lot of gigs with Vika and Linda yet.

"But they were available for this tour and the Kelly girls were doing other things, so I thought, ‘let’s get together with Vika and Linda and do some shows’, which will be nice,” CW explains.

CW will feature tracks from all three of his records as well as a few covers thrown in here and there. “I’ll be playing my entire new record and a few little numbers and tunes that I’ve liked over the years and a couple of old tunes and other things,” he says.

CW is planning for his move to the US next year. “Possibly we’ll be scooting to America in a couple of weeks; we’ll have to see. We’re going to spend a bit of time there getting a band together for next year."

CW also plans to get a few tracks down in the meantime as well. “I’m hoping to record some 45 [rpm] records and just do some singles and some different stuff.”

Although he has so many ideas of what to do with himself next, CW isn’t putting any deadlines in place. “The year goes so quick you know; from one thing to another… everything is so slow, in that way, to get things done.”

After performing at Splendour, CW sheepishly admitted he’s not a fan of playing at festivals. “I prefer my own shows really more than festivals. What do I like about [festivals]? I don’t really like festivals to be honest with you.

“I like that the focus is so much stronger in an enclosed space rather than a tent or outdoor space. You’ve just got a stronger communication both ways, back and forth with the audience, and it makes the shows more powerful I think.

“I always do the best I can with any show I play and try and make something good happen. I don’t want [the audience] to do anything other than what the music tells them to do."
