Brisbane's 'Home of the Heavy', Crowbar has shut its doors for the foreseeable future.
The announcement comes six months after the venue relocated from its standalone premises in Brunswick Street to be a part of The Brightside "around the corner" in Warner Street.
The blow to the metal, punk, hardcore community was announced on social media and is already reveberating. The operators pointed to current global conditions affecting the music industry and held out hope for a return at some stage in the future.
The statement read, in full:
'It is with a heavy heart that we have had to make the unfortunate decision to pull Crowbar out of Brisbane for the foreseeable future.
'Over 8 years poured into Brisbane's live music scene, with 7,000 plus bands on our stages. We've shared thousands of gigs, good times, beers, shots, sing-alongs, laughs, hugs, tears and triumphs with friends from all around the world.
'These are trying times for the music and entertainment industries and the future is uncertain for a lot of us, but we hope to be back in Brisbane sometime with a very loud bang. For now, we're still here online and in Sydney.
'Thank you for your unending support in Brisbane, thank you to our team, the punters, bands, our regulars, the agents and promoters, our family and friends, we won't ever forget it.'
