If you're an emerging or established independent record label in Victoria, here's your chance to chase your business dreams in France at Midem.
The Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) are now seeking expressions of interest from Victorian independent labels to attend Midem in France.
Midem, which takes place from 4-7 June 2019 at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, is the leading international event for the global music community offering four days of music conferences, professional development and business networking opportunities.
Midem is dedicated to helping the music industry and developing business growth by bringing together the key players of the music ecosystem including artists, label managers, publishers, distributors, streaming services, rights collecting societies, booking agencies, promotors, brands, communication agencies, high-tech companies and startups.
Four established label representatives and two emerging label representatives from Victoria will be selected to receive fully funded Midem 2019 conference registration.
In addition, emerging label recipients will be provided with complimentary return economy airfares to Nice, France plus five nights accommodation and travel insurance.

As a condition of their involvement, established labels must agree to mentor an emerging label for the duration of Midem.

EMERGING label applicants must:
Be an owner or employee of an independently owned Australian labelBe trading for less than 3 years
Have a minimum of 2 artists signed to their roster or have 3 releases
Agree to be mentored by an established label
Be pro-actively seeking opportunities to exploit their catalogue or have a plan to do so
Reside in Victoria
Provide a report after the conference that details connections made at Midem and noting any deals that were done as a result of attendance
Agree to speak to their experience at briefings conducted by the Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) (minimum of 2 briefings)
ESTABLISHED label applicants must:
Be an owner or employee of an independently owned Australian labelBe trading for more than 3 years
Be able to pay for their own flights and accommodation in Cannes during the conference
Agree to mentor an emerging label
Be doing business internationally through licensing in or out of Australia or have a plan to do so
Be pro-actively seeking opportunities to exploit their catalogue or have a plan to do so
Reside in Victoria
Provide a report after the conference that details connections made at Midem and noting any deals that were done as a result of attendance
