Canadian alt-country pioneers Cowboy Junkies will return to Australia for the first time in 20 years next year.
Best known for their 1988 album 'The Trinity Sessions', that featured an unforgettable cover of Velvet Underground's 'Sweet Jane', Cowboy Junkies combined folk, country, blues and rock to create their own unique sound and were a precursor to the upsurge of alt. country in the 1990s.
Still recording, last year's 'All That Reckoning' received a 5-star review by Mojo Magazine who said the album was 'equal parts tenderness and edge, sensual and beautifully disturbing'.
Cowboy Junkies will play shows in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.
General tickets go on sale from 10am, Friday 9 August. Click here for more information.
