Irish folk-pop-country singer-songwriter, CMAT has added a couple of headline concerts to her Australian visit in January.
Already slated to join The Teskey Brothers and Band Of Horses on their A Day On The Green shows, the 'I Don't Really Care For You', 'I Wanna Be A Cowboy, Baby!' and 'Stay For Something' hitmaker will headline concerts in Melbourne and Sydney."People of Melbourne and Sydney! With super-fans including Robbie Williams and Sir Elton John (who has described CMAT's music as "all the things I love: bold, eccentric and a touch mad. I love her to bits!"), CMAT – an acronym of her name: Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson – has had a meteoric rise since her 2022 debut album 'If My Wife New I'd Be Dead' landed at #1 on the Irish Albums Chart.
Her sophomore album, 2023's 'Crazymad, For Me' also debuted at #1 on the Irish Albums Chart as well as being nominated for Best Album at 2024 Ivor Novello Awards. CMAT's most recent release is the 2024 single 'Aw, Shoot'. "A country song about drinking three bottles a wine a day and completely losing my mind, from dangerously prolonged lack of human contact, but we got a banger out of it!"
Joining CMAT at her Melbourne and Sydney shows will be Australian singer-songwriter and another CMAT super-fan, Ella Hooper. "CMAT is one of those rare artists that ticks every single box for me," declares the Killing Heidi singer.
"She straddles all the genres I love, and has classic tunes that are also fresh AF. Her ability to sing the shizz out of funny, sad, sassy, true stories is the mark of a young master.
