Fat Freddy's Drop presents the most badass puppet show you've ever seen.
The New Zealand outfit has released a grindhouse marionette music video for their new single 'Clean The House', the second single from forthcoming album 'Blackbird' set for release on June 21. The video ticks all the badass boxes with card games, drinking, gun fights and car chases carried out by the marionette versions of the band members, who perform 'live' amongst the action.
Those lucky people with 20/20 vision may be able to spot the differences between the real and puppet versions of the band, but the marionettes apparently proved so convincing for director Mark Williams that this posed a bit of a challenge: “The marionettes are so amazing it wasn’t until the second day of shooting that I realised I wasn’t working with the ‘band’. Their live section performance is the best of their career and this video proves that not only are they excellent musicians, they can really act too.”
The release of 'Blackbird' will see the band exceed half-a-million album sales world wide, the result of playing over 800 shows in their career. They're still going strong on the touring front, with a 'Blackbird' tour announced for Australia this August.
