Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Australia 2025 Tour

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

American indie group, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut, self-titled album with a run of live shows throughout 2025 that will culminate with a trio of Australian shows next November.

Led by founder and frontman-guitarist Alec Ounsworth, the band – who counted David Bowie and David Byrne as celebrity fans who attended shows – will headline concerts in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

"Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are so excited to be taking the first album on tour in 2025! Also, we have unearthed a hidden little gem from the very first sessions in 'Heavy Metal (original take)', which we are happy to share with you," the band posted.

"As I remember it, those early sessions were very much a special moment in time – piling into one hotel room to wake up and go to a real studio (!) to try to come up with something special just for the fun of it. This song typifies the sloppy magic of those early days.

"Looking forward to getting back out and share some of that sloppy magic with you all very soon!"

A heady mix of leftfield pop and melodic indie rock, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were part of the mid 2000s movement that reshaped the indie scene, cultivating a DIY, bedroom pop style that would become so prevalent across the next decade-plus.

The band toured with the likes of The National and Architecture In Helsinki in their formative years, also gracing stages at Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Roskilde.

Part of the 20th anniversary celebrations, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will re-issue their debut album on limited edition vinyl LP early next year on the band's own label via Secretly Distribution. The LP features such classics as 'The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth', 'Over And Over Again', and 'Upon This Tidal Wave Of Young Blood'.

Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 25 November.
