Lily Allen Has A Clapping Song, Too

Lily Allen
Founder and Publisher. Based in Brisbane.
Howard launched 'Scene Magazine' in 1993. Paul Keating was Prime Minister. Whitney, Janet and Mariah all had Aussie #1s and Mark Zuckerberg was 9. Over 30 years he's overseen the growth of scenestr to become Australia's largest – and only national – street press while forging a digital-first imperative in the mid-naughties. Social media remains a complete mystery to him. He's been spotted at raves, hip hop concerts, Motown revivals, judged battle of the bands, shot video for opening night and national awards red carpet, partnered with music industry showcases, comedy festivals and myriad other cultural productions ... and he interviewed Eddie Izzard. He likes Star Trek and a good Oxford comma — way too much fun at parties.

Lily Allen's latest single on her post-retirement, post-baby run, 'Air Balloon' is attracting negative attention amid claims of similarity to MIA’s 2007 'Paper Planes'.

But, we couldn't be arsed sifting through the merits of that debate — especially so soon after the excitement of yesterday's triple j / music homogenisation saga — but the clapping in Allen's offering did prompt us to dust off 'The Clapping Song' from The Belle Stars.

The Belle Stars were an all female British pop/rock band, founded in London in 1980 by former members of the 2 Tone ska revival band, The Bodysnatchers; and they dropped this party ditty a couple of years later which charted at #4 Australia and #11 UK.

And if you call in the next 60 seconds, we'll include these clapping songs at no extra charge.

Oh, and MIA's 'Paper Planes'
