For the first time in 14 years, American heavy rockers CKY will tour Australia.
The '96 Quite Bitter Beings', 'Flesh Into Gear', and 'Escape From Hellview' hitmakers had been due to tour Australia earlier this year with Alien Ant Farm.
However, that collaboration came to an abrupt halt late last year when CKY were removed from the European leg of tour (and subsequently the Australian dates) by Alien Ant Farm following an altercation between the band's frontmen – Chad I Ginsburg of CKY and Dryden Mitchell of Alien Ant Farm – where Ginsburg allegedly punched Mitchell, Ginsburg claiming self-defence.
Now the flag bearers for big, raw, authentic, earth-shaking rock will headline their own concerts in January, playing Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
The tour dates down under also arrive in the wake of CKY revealing a new member with Mike Leon, known for his crushing bass work with Soulfly, Cavalera, Havok, and Igorrr, officially joined the band. The new line-up made its debut at Warped Tour in late July.
Chad shared his excitement about bringing Mike into the fold. "I've watched Mike grow up in this scene, from being a diehard CKY fan in the crowd, to carving out an incredible career of his own.
"To see his journey come full circle and to finally share the stage with him is surreal, to say the least. Mike's passion, drive, and history with the band make this the perfect fit.
"Warped Tour was just the beginning, and I can't wait for everyone to see what's next!"
Added Mike: "As a lifelong fan, it's an unreal feeling sharing the stage with the very same guys who sparked my passion to play in a band. Their music and attitude inspired me to pick up the bass and hit the stage! I'm beyond excited to be a part of the future of CKY."
Although it's been four years since any new CKY music landed and almost a decade since their last album, alongside playing Vans Warped, CKY also raised the horns at Download Festival (for the third time) as well as Tool's Live In The Sand festival in the Dominican Republic earlier this year.
