Childish Gambino — the most talented person on the Big Day Out line-up that 50 per cent of ticketholders have never heard of — has announced Sydney and Melbourne sideshows.
The triple threat (actor, writer and rapper) born Donald Glover might be best known for his comedy career. He stars in Community as quarterback-turned-geek Troy Barnes (and in the criminally underseen Mystery Team as naive detective Jason Rogers), and worked as a writer on 30 Rock from 2006 to 2009.
Before all that, though, he was a musician, and that still might end up being the thing that propels him to superstardom. His debut LP, Camp, dropped last year on the back of a string of killer mixtapes. Since then, he's dropped yet another mixtape, Royalty, featuring Beck, RZA, Ghostface Killah and even Tina Fey.
These shows will be your only chance to see Gambino outside his Big Day Out dates. Tickets go on sale 9am Thursday November 22.
Wednesday January 16 — The Standard (Sydney)
