Cécile McLorin Salvant, a three-time GRAMMY winner and master of jazz singing, will take her artform to new heights when she performs as part of SIMA’s Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival.
In the pin-drop atmosphere of City Recital Hall, Cécile will lead a quartet with Sullivan Fortner (piano), Yasushi Nakamura (Bass), Kyle Pool (drums) on an odyssey of expression.
Next up, St Stephens Uniting Church on Macquire Street resonates with Tina Harrod and Kate Wadey’s vocal virtuosity. An international line-up will play across two shows in one day, with ensembles from Germany, Italy and Australia. Shannon Barnett Quartet (DE) and Tessie Overmyer Trio (AU), followed by Caroline Davis (US) and Nuovo Mondo Symphonies (IT).
Flora Carbo and Wilbur Whitta will create an intimate setting at The Women’s Club, and audiences can embark on a sonic odyssey at Johnston Street Jazz as the Motion Quartet and Sabine and Harley duo unveil the hip new sounds of Sydney.
Then, Sarah Belkner and EBS will lead audiences into their world, merging alt-pop and jazz at the Great Club.
