Australian country singer Catherine Britt will today undergo lumpectomy surgery for breast cancer.
From Catherine Britt’s Management Team. It is with our deepest regret that we inform the music community that much loved Australian Country artist Catherine Britt has been diagnosed with breast cancer. At only 30 years of age, Catherine who has no family history of breast cancer, is understandably shocked by the diagnosis.
The following message has been issued by Catherine on her Facebook page. “I am very sorry to inform you all that 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I do not have a family history and being only 30 years old I’m in shock and disbelief but in VERY strong spirits that I can beat this! Tomorrow I will be operated on in a Newcastle Hospital with the best team possible and will know more about my future treatment after the surgery.
"I have continued since my diagnosis to get on with my life and career as best I can and have scheduled my treatment around all future tour dates and commitments so I will still see you all out on the road! I encourage all women of all ages to remember to check yourself and seek medical advice if there’s any changes at all in your breasts as cancer doesn’t discriminate.
"Thank you for all of the love and prayers and kind words so far, your support is all I need to get through this scary time.”
Catherine will begin her treatment today in Newcastle supported by her family and fiancé, James. The remaining Queensland dates of her Boneshaker Tour will still go ahead as planned as well as all future tour and album commitments. We at Catherine’s Management team wish Catherine a full and speedy recovery and know her strength and fighting spirit will overcome her biggest personal challenge ahead.
