At the forefront of the new wave of Australian country music, Casey Barnes continues to push his pop-hook heavy brand of country rock with the release of his newest album 'Light It Up'.
Forced to piece it together across 18 months due to the pandemic, Casey worked with producers and co-writers MSquared (Michael Delozrenzis and Michael Paynter) and Nashville-based singer-songwriters Kaci Brown and Sam Gray across many, many Zoom meetings.'Light It Up' already features the hit singles 'Come Turn Me On' and 'God Took His Time On You', which has been streamed collectively more than six million times on Spotify.
"The silver lining of the pandemic was that it backed me into a corner I'd never been in before and forced me to take some personal risks I never would have taken," shares Casey.
"I played different types of shows, I wrote differently and most importantly I really took stock of who I was as a person. As a husband. As a father.
"In many ways, having the rug pulled from under me was a blessing in disguise. It allowed me the chance to start fresh and attack this album with everything I had.
"I didn't want to leave anything on the table this time, and I think I've come out the other side with a body of work I couldn't have dreamed of 18 months ago."
With 'Light It Up' out today, Casey will venture on an extended run of shows kicking off this weekend in his home state Tasmania, followed by performances in NSW, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland finishing up at his local base, Gold Coast.
It will take in a mix of venue shows and festivals, including Casey's first ever appearances at Bluesfest.
