With a whopping seven nominations, Albany-born singer-songwriter Carla Geneve dominates this year's WAMAwards (presented by Act-Belong-Commit) list of nominees.
2018 has seen Carla travel east to showcase at major music conference BIGSOUND, alongside a July tour to Sydney and Melbourne; she's also part of the Queenscliff Music Festival (VIC) and Fairgrounds Festival (NSW) line-ups in November, and will support John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins and The Waifs in January.
Some of the awards Carla has been nominated in are Best Folk Act, Best Rock Act, Best Single and Best Guitarist.
Other multiple nominees in 2018 include Hyclass, Jack Davies, Jacob Diamond, Jamilla, Kate Pass and Stella Donnelly with four award nominations apiece. Acts with three nominations are Alana Macpherson, Feels, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Spacey Jane.
With many of the artists nominated also set to appear at WAMFest Live, please join us in congratulating all the talented 2018 WAMAwards nominees; scroll down to read the full list of categories and nominations.
Winners will be revealed Thursday 1 November at the annual WAMAwards, which this year debuts at the swanky Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth. Guests are encouraged to leave the ripped jeans at home and dial up the style for a lively evening celebrating WA music's very best.
"What a fantastic and diverse list of WA talent," Mike Harris, WAM CEO, says. "We are blessed here in WA with such a high-quality music community and each year the job of shortlisting from within that community is really hard.
"Over the years we've constantly strived to elevate the state's annual music awards to reflect this talent. We're pleased to see this year's WAMi's hosted at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth and look forward to celebrating in style with all this year's deserving nominees."
Also revealed today are the Kiss My Camera finalists, whose award-nominated photographs encapsulate some of the best music moments from the past year.
This year's winning shots will be screened as part of the WAMAwards, as well as across outdoor screens like the Northbridge Piazza, Perth Cultural Centre and Yagan Square Digital Tower in the leadup to WAMFest.
