Carla Geneve Dominates 2019 WAMAwards Nominees With 8 Nominations

Top L-R: Carla Geneve, Demon Days; Bottom L-R: Sly Withers and Jamilla

After winning two awards at last year's ceremony, Carla Geneve is again dominating the WAMAwards with the Albany singer-songwriter receiving eight nominations for this year's awards.

Fresh off an east-coast tour as well as currently supporting Holy Holy on their massive national tour, Carla has had an epic 2019 that also includes winning the 2018-19 WAM Song Of The Year award in July. Some of the awards she is up for are Best Rock Act, Best Single, Best EP, Best Music Video and Best Guitarist.

Perth producer and R&B soul artist Jamilla, who showcased at Music Matters in Singapore earlier this week, has received six nominations, while Demon Days, Sly Withers and Stella Donnelly all follow with four nominations apiece.

GAZEY, Grace Barbé, Grievous Bodily Calm, MissGenius, Nika Mo, Noah Dillon, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Spacey Jane all feature with three nominations each.

2019 also sees the debut of the Artist Of The Year Award to be decided by a specialty panel of industry judges. WAM CEO, Mike Harris, says of the new award: "Recognising the origins of WAM being artist and music driven, it is important to continue to recognise the work of artists; this year WAM will present a best-of-the-best award from the genre award winners as the WA Artist Of The Year."

Winners will be revealed Thursday 31 October at the annual WAMAwards, which this year returns to Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth.

Guests are encouraged to leave the ripped jeans at home and dial up the style for a lively evening celebrating WA music's very best. General admission tickets will be available via Moshtix at 9am AWST Tuesday 1 October.
