Caloundra Music Festival adds The Commitments to its 2014 line-up.
Original lead vocalist, Andrew Strong is coming to CMF to play all the killer tunes you know and love from the cult hit, The Commitments. Strong will be performing with an eight-piece band The Commitments Show as part of this year’s festival, performing all the hits made famous by the film such as Mustang Sally, Try a little Tenderness, Midnight Hour and many more.
“Anyone who was around in 1991 will remember The Commitments and the huge impact they had,” festival director Richie Eyles said. “He and his band are going to add something really special to this year’s CMF.”
Andrew Strong rose to fame after his role as Declan ‘Deco’ Cuffe in the cult classic movie. The film is something of a rags-to-riches story that sees the ‘The Commitments’ – an Irish soul band – fall just short of stardom. The movie received massive international recognition, nominated for Grammy’s and Academy Awards, and won several BAFTA’s and Brit Awards. Since then, Strong has released a number of albums and toured with such artists including The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Prince, Lenny Kravitz and many more.
After recent six sold-out Arena shows in the UK and Ireland Andrew Strong: The Commitments Tour will head down under. The 8-piece band will be performing all the hits that were not only made famous from the film but received incredible chart success in Australia.
