Next year's Brunswick Music Festival will welcome international guests for the first time since the pandemic changed our lives.
The Melbourne festival (the city's longest running music festival) will host Brooklyn-based psych-rock, dream-pop band Crumb ('Ghostride', 'Locket', 'Plants') on their maiden voyage to Australia.Renowned Tuareg guitarist and songwriter Mdou Moctar (who toured America earlier this year as guest of Parquet Courts) will offer an electric performance with his band melding contemporary Saharan music with Eddie Van Halen pyrotechnics and Hendrix-inspired shredding, ruminating poetic meditations on love, religion, women's rights, inequality and Western Africa's exploitation at the hands of colonial powers.
The 2023 instalment of Brunswick Music Festival will also embrace a new home, moving to the history-soaked walls of Estonian House in Brunswick.
"It's so exciting to be sharing a sneak peek of what's in store for next year's Brunswick Music Festival (BMF) programme," music programmer, Emily Ulman says.
"BMF is always special, and 2023 will be no exception. Keep your ears and eyes peeled for the full programME drop next year, but in the meantime If you haven't heard of Mdou Moctar or Crumb, please get both in your ears immediately (you'll thank us later), and if you have, don't snooze on these tickets.
"See you at BMF in March next year."
Stay tuned for the full BMF 2023 programme announcement in February.
