Brookside Music To Close

Brookside Music
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Brookside Music has announced it will close in five weeks.

Most customers will not have to travel very far, though. Co-owner Gary Marsh told scenestr "Sanity has wanted our store for a long time and the time now is right to sell (to them). There are other things I want to do while I have my health and I don't want to be working in a record store when I'm 65."

Marsh bought the business in 1994, making him the third owner of the iconic outlet which was established when Brookside Shopping Centre was built in 1973.

The family-owned independent retailer announced its decision to its Facebook customers on Sunday.

Brisbane It is with great sadness that we announce Brookside Music will be closing down at the end of June.

We were recently made an offer by Sanity Music to take over our store. This was an extremely difficult decision to make as Brookside Music is a family business that Gary & Chris have owned & operated for 20 years. I guess timing is everything though & Gary & Chris have been looking towards their retirement & starting the next chapter of their lives together. And we are very grateful that another music store will follow in our footsteps.

We would like to thank all of our customers who have supported us over the past 20 years & for the beautiful friendships we have made along the way. You are all what keeps small family businesses alive & successful & we will miss each & every one of you. We will be clearing all of our stock so come in & grab a bargain before we go!

Thank you again, Gary, Chris, Alice & the team at Brookside Music x
