The 2025 instalment of Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash is offering intrepid music fans keen for an outback destination experience the ultimate classic Aussie line-up.
A collection of artists spanning pub rock through to alternative rock, pop and country music, 2025 Mundi Mundi Bash – 21-23 August – will feature some of the country's biggest anthems led by nine-time ARIA Award winner Missy Higgins ('Scar', 'Where I Stood'), ska-funk rockers The Cat Empire ('Two Shoes', 'Hello') whose new album 'Bird In Paradise' lands next March, and alternative stalwarts Birds Of Tokyo ('Plans', 'Lanterns')."YEOOOOWWW! Check out this epic line-up! We're chuffed to be on the bill for the Mundi Mundi Bash next August 21-23. See you in the desert 🤘🎸," shares Birds Of Tokyo.
Veteran rockers Hoodoo Gurus ('That's My Scene', 'Bittersweet') and The Angels ('Am I Ever Going To See Your Face Again', 'No Secrets') will also road-trip to the Mundi Mundi Bash, as will Australia's Queen of Country Kasey Chambers ('Not Pretty Enough', 'The Captain) and pop-soul-jazz singer Kate Ceberano ('Bedroom Eyes', 'Pash').
Soft rock, blue-eyed soul legend Leo Sayer ('You Make Me Feel Like Dancing', 'When I Need You') will provide the nostalgia alongside Bash favourites Chocolate Starfish, who return for a record fourth Mundi Mundi Bash event.
Other highlights of the 2025 line-up include Brad Cox, Shannon Noll, Pierce Brothers, 19Twenty, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Thirsty Merc, Rose Tattoo, Ross Wilson, Dragon, Mi-Sex, Sarah McLeod, and Ziggy – 50 Years of David Bowie.
"We're super excited to head to beautiful outback New South Wales and play the legendary Mundi Mundi Bash. This will be our first time in the area and we can't wait to perform under the stars on those historic plains," shares The Cat Empire.
Adds Missy Higgins: "I had such a special time in 2022 when I last played the Mundi Mundi Bash, it's really unlike anywhere else playing in Broken Hill. It's a great vibe, with people travelling from all over the country to attend the desert concert every year.
"So, my band and I are very excited to return in 2025 and bring my new album (as well as plenty of old favourites) to the Mundi Mundi Bash."
In addition to the music line-up, the Mundi Mundi Bash features a jam-packed programme of unique outback entertainment; from world record attempts for the Nutbush dance, Big Blue Day and Mad Max dress up, to a charity Mundi Undi fun run, outdoor film screenings, morning yoga, camel rides, dunny door painting, and so much more.
"We got our first taste of Mundi Mundi in 2023 and, honestly, our minds were blown," shares Dave Faulkner of Hoodoo Gurus. "Everything about it was epic: the people, the scenery, the feeling – the whole thing was amazing. We can't wait to get back there in 2025. Let's do it."
The Mundi Mundi Plains setting for the event has a sealed road leading right up to the event site on Belmont Station, with the last remaining kilometres of unsealed roadway set to be bitumened by the NSW Government before the event is staged in August.
"It may seem like a small thing, but we're very excited about the last section of road being sealed," Greg Donovan, festival owner, producer and Managing Director of the Outback Music Festival Group, says.
"It is only a few kilometres, but it will make access even easier than it already was and will allow vehicles to still enter the site if we happen to get some unseasonable rain. We've never had to deal with rain impacting access, but it's nice to know this work will further weatherproof the site given it's one of the few variables we can't control."
Tickets on sale from 10am AEDT on 24 October.
