Despite all the upheaval COVID has brought the live music industry, glimmers of hope continue to burst forth including the birth of a new space dedicated to live music in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
Each Thursday to Saturday, pasta palace Uh Oh Spaghettio will convert their top level into a pop-up dance floor featuring a host of indie musicians (Thu-Fri) and DJs (Sat).A platform for grassroots and emerging artists to perform their originals (often for the first time), Uh Oh Upstairs also offers diners the perfect place to burn off those excess carbs.
To kick off tonight (18 November) with indie rock, lo-fi folk artist Lucy Francesca Dron, the upcoming line-up of confirmed artists includes Jack Popper, Fancy Boy, Deep Sonder, Frisky Disco, Bairstow, Snowcats, The Basils, Jane Street and Dream Dali.
"This space isn't just another live music venue. This space is for emerging artists – truly grassroots Brisbane – who are often playing their first headline show," the owners, turned event coordinators, of Uh Oh Spaghettio says.
"We wanted to give them a space to showcase their talent – something that has been increasingly rare over the last few years."
