The APRA Music Awards will be held in Brisbane for the first time this year.
The APRA Music Awards — which honour songwriters and publishers that have achieved outstanding success in their fields, as determined by APRA's 60,000 eligible voters — will take place at Brisbane City Hall on June 23.
Ian Walker, Minister for Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts, is justifiably proud of the move: "The APRA Music Awards will be a great addition to Queensland's contemporary music scene. The Queensland Government supports Queensland as a hub for contemporary music, musicians and new music discovery through events, such as BIGSOUND."
From 2015, the APRAs will take place in March in order to more evenly space APRA's calendar of events and accomodate Oz artists who tour overseas during the Northern Hemisphere's summer festival season.
