Just when you thought you'd be able to enjoy a carefree weekend, it turns out you'll be spending it in mourning: LMFAO are no more.
Seemingly at their creative peak, the LA duo appeared to come to an end this morning when Redfoo revealed he and partner SkyBlu are looking to pursue individual interests. "I feel like we've been doing this for so long, five or six years," he told news.com.au. "And we're kind of like saying, well, let's just do what's natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time." He added that he didn't know when or if he and Skyblu would ever reunite.
The unlikely uncle/nephew team have been together since 2006, and spent five years trying to convince people there was something worthwhile about what they do before the world caved in to the ubiquitous 'Party Rock Anthem' in 2011. Follow-up single 'Sexy And I Know It' was just as inescapable, and it seemed the duo were truly at the top of... whatever their field is, exactly.
Alas, the good times are over, with Redfoo now intent on launching a solo career and a fashion line.
"All the music that I'm going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish," he said, limiting himself somewhat unnecessarily. "I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music."
