Boox Kid Shares 5 Statements Said By Non-Parents

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Introducing Boox Kid, a cross-genre producer and artist whose tantalising sounds you can catch live at WAMFest (in Perth) this weekend.

In March this year, Boox Kid aka Jarred Wall released 'It's Just A Dream, Wake Up' that featured vocal samples of Jarred's two young children.

With his newest single, 'Sentimental Dreams', set to be released in November, Boox Kid shares a few statements said by non-parents.

1: You need a good routine

This is the one that gets me every time. There is always a friend, the one without kids, who will comment: “All you need is to get your kid into a good routine.”

Geezus! I hadn't thought of that! I never knew it would be that easy. At this point I reflect and think 'man, I can't wait until you have kids'.

2: Bring the kids along, they'll be fine

You're invited to hang out with friends, have a few drinks, relax and they say 'don't worry, we can help watch the kids'. No you won't, that will be us making sure they don't tear the house apart or use the dog as a racehorse.

3: My kids will never touch an iPhone or any electronic device

Sure, the theory is good. But damn! Sometimes you just need 15 minutes to chill with no interruption. Turns on Peppa Pig

4: Late for work; could you look at day care

I could, but I will have to remortgage the house. no disrespect to day cares because you guys do an amazing job

5: I've been so tired lately

So, you had two hours sleep, broken up over a seven-hour period and in between that, assisted your wife to lactate by manually breast pumping? No? OK then.

Boox Kid plays WAMFest at James St Bar & Kitchen (Perth) 2 November.
