Now entering its 21st edition, Festival Of Small Halls (brought to you by the Woodfordia Inc team) will bring rhythm superstar Bobby Alu and indie pop-rock two-piece This Way North to 20 NSW regional community halls next month.
Despite the difficulties of staging live music events for the past 12 months, Festival Of Small Halls have been able to resume their touring activities to visit regional areas in part because of the resolve of local folk to support their bush communities."We were so inspired and impressed by the way community halls have been able to adopt these new conditions and not shy away from the extra hoops they have had to jump through to keep their communities safe," Producer Eleanor Rigden says.
"Towards the end of 2020, when we got back on the road, hall committees and local groups really stepped up, realising it was more important than ever to support their communities to safely come together after a year of difficulty and isolation."
This NSW tour (7 April to 2 May) is set to traverse the entire state (country to coastal) from the rolling green hills of the Mid North hinterlands, to the dry bush of the Central West, from gold-rush country to the fertile Southern Tablelands; as well as the golden sands of the south-east coast, to the majesty of the Snowys.
This Way North recently released the third part of their trilogy of self-titled EPs that they wrote during their travels across Australia and Canada circa 2019.
"We are beyond excited to resume life on the road with Festival Of Small Halls," Cat Leahy says, "touring regionally is one of our favourite things to do: The places, the people, playing shows, the road, it's our happy place!"
Meanwhile, Bobby Alu is itching to bring his smooth Polynesian island vibes to a set of new audiences after the longest break he's had from touring since he began his music career.
"I couldn't think of a more perfect way to get back to touring after the longest break I've had since hitting the road over a decade ago," Bobby says. "I'm really excited to visit, explore and perform in these regional towns."
Tickets to all shows are now available.
