Alex James

Bassist of one of the biggest Britpop bands of all time, Blur's Alex James is bringing his Britpop Classical show to Australia.

Fresh from sold-out concerts around the UK including Royal Albert Hall, Alex James' Britpop Classical tour down under will land in Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Perth this November.

James will be joined by an all-star band and orchestra, with cameos from some very special guests bringing to life some of the biggest anthems of the '90s.

Think classic tunes from Blur, Oasis and Pulp to Supergrass and The Verve. "Somehow all of these songs mean more to people now than they did when they were first released," Alex says.

"Bringing them back to life with a symphony orchestra, a kick-ass band, some old friends and very special guests have been brilliant – and I absolutely cannot wait to get this show to Australian audiences."

Whether you lived the Britpop era IRL the first time or arrived on Earth after the 20th Century, Britpop Classical is a celebration of one of British music's most beloved eras.

It transforms familiar anthems into something fresh, ambitious and emotionally resonant.

Tickets on sale from 11am (local time) on 24 April.
