Organisers of the annual festival Bluesfest, held every Easter in Byron Bay, have announced their usual process of year-round ticket sales will cease next week due to an unprecedented number of sales for the 2017 event.
The promoters say the decision is a business-based one, borne of the highest level of consumer satisfaction in mind. A spokesperson for Bluesfest said if the bulk of the tickets were sold at the initial currently-reduced prices, there would not be enough capital to secure the same variety and calibre of talent that the festival is renowned for.
Tickets will become available for sale again closer to the date, and will do so at their standard higher pricing. Now in its 27th year, and having been one of the consistent staples of the Australian festival scene, the 2016 incarnation impressed by not only incorporating requisite line-up of blues and rock artists, but by expanding their horizons to incorporate hip hop acts such as the multi-Grammy Award winning rapper Kendrick Lamar.

Festival director, Peter Noble, said: “Bluesfest 2017 is shaping up to be a very special year. I have been travelling and meeting artists, managers and agents in the US and the UK recently, and I can say it's all coming together brilliantly. Whilst I don't always get all the artists I approach to play, this coming year, so far, is looking like one for the books.”
