Bluesfest Add More Talent To 2024 Line-up Including The Legendary Taj Mahal & Reformed The Cruel Sea

Tedeschi Trucks Band highlight Bluesfest's second artist announcement.

Bluesfest's 2024 edition continues to build momentum with another round of artists added to an already stacked line-up.

Last month revealing the likes of Tom Jones, Jack Johnson, The Teskey Brothers, Matt Corby and Elvis Costello & The Imposters on the 2024 bill, today Bluesfest levels up with 15 more additions.

The most requested band to perform at future Bluesfests by 2023 attendees, Grammy Award-winning blues-rock group Tedeschi Trucks Band (fronted by married couple Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks) lead the new arrivals.

Legendary bluesman Taj Mahal will trek to Bluesfest for a tenth appearance, the 'Leaving Trunk' and 'Lovin' In My Baby's Eyes' musician to be joined by The Cruel Sea, who recently reformed for their first tour in almost 20 years celebrating the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough record, 1993's 'The Honeymoon Is Over'.

Austin, Texas, native American singer-songwriter and guitarist (and graduate of Berklee College of Music) Jackie Venson will perform exclusively at 2024 Bluesfest.

Acclaimed songwriter, New Zealand's Tim Finn will bring such classics 'I See Red','Poor Boy', 'My Mistake' and 'Six Months In A Leaky Boat' to the Bluesfest stage.

Ian Moss ('Tucker's Daughter', 'Telephone Booth', 'Choir Girl' and 'When The War Is Over') and Rickie Lee Jones (two-time Grammy Award winner who's penned 'The Moon Is Made Of Gold' and 'Chuck E's In Love' without forgetting 'The Horses') add to the iconic songwriters.

Others to join the action in 20245 include Dan Sultan, Coterie, The Whitlams Black Stump Band, WILSN, Caravana Sun, Playing For Change Band, Lisa Hunt's Forever Soul and Women Of Soul Collective.

"I am so proud to bring this incredible gathering of the world's best artists to Bluesfest Byron Bay. Our line-up is shaping up to be one of our best. And we're just getting started," beams Festival Director, Peter Noble OAM.

"The Tedeschi Trucks Band was the most requested band by Bluesfest 2023 attendees to perform at our 35th anniversary festival, so we are thrilled to be able to deliver on such a demand. In two days from now, Tedeschi Trucks Band will be headlining Madison Square Garden in New York. These guys are a big deal!

"We have Taj Mahal playing exclusively for his tenth time! Taj is a giant of the blues world, with his Blues Hall of Fame membership, his Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association, and three GRAMMYs.

"Rickie Lee Jones is one of the greatest songwriters of all time – famed for writing, among others 'The Horses', which is such an Australian favourite. Talking about Australian favourites, we are so thrilled to have The Cruel Sea reforming and playing again, some 15 years after their last Bluesfest performance.

"Bluesfest 2024 is set to be an extraordinary celebration of music, bringing together a diverse array of artists and genres to create a unique and unforgettable experience for fans of all ages. "From blues purists to music enthusiasts, there's something for everyone in our second artist announcement."

Tickets are on sale.

Bluesfest takes place at Byron Events Farm (Byron Bay) 28 March to 1 April, 2024.
