Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Western Australia’s Blues At Bridgetown brought punters a full-strength festival last year for its 30th anniversary, and now it returns in 2023 with a weekend of music, melodies and memories.

The first set of artists to play Blues At Bridgetown are here. First up, C.W. Stoneking is returning to WA with His Primitive Horn Orchestra. The band have been his long-time collaborators, and they again join him on the road playing songs from his back catalogue.

The Bondi Cigars have ten albums under their belt, as well as more than 30 years of constant touring. The award-winning quartet have worked their way into Australia’s musical heart, and they’ve received consistent and widespread acclaim from critics and music fans alike.

Renowned for their high-energy live shows which whip unsuspecting punters into frenzied states of boogie and unabashed song at the drop of a hat, is Sweet Talk. The six-piece from Melbourne was founded over a bond of late nights, American music, classic songwriting, and improvised jams. They’ve journeyed across Australia with appearances at the likes of Blues On Broadbeach, Queenscliff Music Festival, Tamworth, Port Fairy Folk Festival, and Out On The Weekend.

Star-on-the-rise Roshani was born into a musical family in Sri Lanka, and when she was given up for adoption at six weeks, fate led her to the other side of the world in Tamworth. Here, she had the opportunity to nurture her musical gift. “I can’t wait to see you guys in November, it’s going to be wicked,” Roshani says. “Last year was mind-blowingly amazing and I can’t wait to be with you all again to share some music and some dancing and some love and some laughter.”

Bridgetown audiences will remember seeing Grant Haua perform with bluesy duo Swamp Thing in previous years. In 2023, he’ll return, with new outfit The Soul Decree: “I’m so looking forward to getting back to Bridgetown,” Grant says. “It was my first overseas festival, and I made a lot of good friends there. I’ve got a whole band going on here and I’m really looking forward to showing you the Grant Haua experience in its final form.”

Also joining the festivities is Minnie Marks, Zydecats, Kangaroos With, Machine Guns, Tracey Barnett, Smokestack Rhino, Rose Parker Band, The Human Highway, Tommy Bosson & The Score, Tanya Ransom, Howling Onshore, Two Dollar Dog and Whiskey Nips. More will be announced soon.

Tickets are on sale now.

Blues At Bridgetown takes place at Blackwood Valley (Western Australia) from 10-12 November.
