Australian hip hop OGs, Bliss n Eso will embark on a massive 28-date national tour to promote their new record this winter.
The 'Moments' and 'Addicted' hitmakers will be on the road performing material from their forthcoming eight studio album 'The Moon (The Light Side)' (due 11 April) which features the singles 'Party On The Moon' (a reworking of Gang Starr's iconic 'Full Clip' produced by the legendary DJ Premier), 'Vacation' and 'Feeling Fly'.From late May through to August, the Party On The Moon tour will play Toowoomba, Brisbane, Bryon Bay, Gold Coast, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle, Gosford, Barwon Heads, Frankston, Melbourne, Wollongong, Canberra, Sydney, Penrith, Wodonga, Echuca, Moruya, Townsville, Mackay, Hobart, Forth, Jindabyne, Sunshine Coast, Airlie Beach, and Cairns.
"Making our new album 'The Moon (The Light Side)' was honestly one of the most fun times we've had in the studio in years," Bliss says. "We wanted to return to the essence of what made us fall in love with hip hop when we were kids – that classic golden era party rocking vibe that originally made BnE.
"We've been blessed to have built up an incredible fan base over the years and when making this album we constantly envisioned playing these new songs and the electric energy they would create between us and the crowd.
"We're so pumped to take it to the next level on this tour and to bring this album to life for the first time. It's time to blast off y'all. . . 'cause it's a PARTY ON THE MOON!"
'The Moon (The Light Side)' features one of the project's many big-name flips, 'Party On The Moon', a track that brought Bliss n Eso into the same sphere as hip hop icon, DJ Premier. Through a mutual connection, they managed to get the finished track to Premier who loved it and gave them permission to use it.
"We grew up as kids listening to the classic rap crew Gang Starr and always loved DJ Premier's beats – one of hip hop's most legendary producers and iconic pioneers of the golden era, '90s boom-bap sound," shares Bliss n Eso.
"For our new album 'The Moon (The Light Side)' we felt it was important to give our fans an insight into the type of music we grew up listening to and that helped shape us into the artists we are today.
"We had the idea to flip up the iconic beat from Gang Starr's 'Full Clip' taking its classic boom bap sound and updating it with modern day production to give it a contemporary fresh spin.
"It was a pretty crazy and ambitious idea given the song's huge gravitas in hip hop history and we had no idea if DJ Premier would allow us to use the beat or if we'd even be able to get in contact with him.
"We decided instead of trying to ask for permission first – we would instead spend the time and energy to create the entire song, so we had a fully finished vision to present to Premier. We were shooting for the moon and had poured so much work and love into the song."
Set to join the tour will be festival favourite Ivan Ooze, who has toured with the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Ice Cube, Azealia Banks and Peking Duk. "Cannot thank the boys enough for inviting me on this one, and for the homies who have been in my dms asking me when I'm coming to your city it's between May-August baby," posted Ivan.
"It's been a hot minute since I've seen you all, but I'm super excited to tear it up with you again and show you what I've been working on! 🥹🔥"
