Aboriginal hip hop artist Birdz has recently released his debut album, ‘Train Of Thought’.
“I’m looking forward to sharing it with everybody,“ Birdz says. The album highlights indigenous hardships and human existence. “I’ve always wanted to share my story and I was able to do that through my music.”
With six years experience in the industry, the Melbourne rapper is ready to take his music to the next level. “I grew up in a small town, so hip hop was the window to the world for me.”
Outspoken and captivating, Birdz's lead single ‘This Side’ celebrates the Melbourne-based label established and operated by Briggs, Bad Apples Music. Birdz teamed with Darwin singer-songwriter Serina Pech to create the track. “It’s a celebration of the Bad Apples Music movement; it says we’re here now and we’re here to stay.”
His debut album features the tracks: ‘Lessons’, ‘Train Of Thoughts’, ‘Questions’ and ‘Testify’. ‘Lessons’ gives an insight into his childhood while on ‘Train Of Thoughts’ Birdz defends his right to be who he wants to be. ‘Questions’ and ‘Testify’ focus on abuse of power and how it has an effect on people’s lives.
Since his EP ‘Birdz Eye View’ was released in 2013, Birdz has built a loyal, strong following with his future looking bright. Birdz has already performed at St. Kilda Festival and Groovin The Moo while supporting well-known acts such as A.B. Original, Funkoars, Thundamentals and Sampa The Great.
“That was my first time performing at a festival… Groovin The Moo is one of those staple festivals you strive to achieve as an artist.”
'Train Of Thought’ is out now.
